For other admits who plan on attending, what will you be wearing? Should I dress formal or casual? I was thinking of wearing a Harvard shirt or hoodie to express my enthusiasm, but am not sure if that would be kosher. Any thoughts?

Mr. Fitz - Remember you are having to live/stay in someone’s dorm room. From the event info:

Weather
Cambridge weather is unpredictable. Bring an umbrella and a warm jacket or raincoat to fend off possible April showers.

Comfortable Attire
We have not planned any events requiring formal clothes. Wear whatever is most comfortable. Sneakers or casual shoes are the most sensible for walking Harvard Square’s brick-lined sidewalks.

Light Packing
As you will only be here a few days, a heavy bag will not be necessary and will make it more difficult for you to get around campus. A backpack or tote bag may be helpful, since you probably will be too busy during the day to return to your room to get things. Bring a bath towel and don’t forget your sleeping bag!

D is going to only be staying the Saturday/Sunday so we are dealing with fewer days than some. But she will be definitely packing casual - Nice jeans, etc. That will handle almost any weather, unless we get one of our freakishly warm April days. Then we will have to regroup. Hoodie combo type stuff makes sense.

also, definitely don’t walk around with your red folders. if you need to have the schedule with you at all times, try buying a different color folder at cvs. it’s basically a badge of shame which we upperclassman use to identify prefrosh. additionally, do not to walk around in groups of 20 people and try to escape the yard and wander around the upper class houses a bit.

^^ lol, is that a joke?

At Yale’s BDD, EVERYONE walked around with their blue folders. But that made the upperclassmen SO helpful and nice to all of us! Everytime they saw one of us blue-folder prefrosh looking around aimlessly, they were more than happy to walk over and help us out.

Unless seachen is just messing with you, and if Harvard’s anything like Yale (lol everyone just hold your tongues and bear with me!) then walking around with your folders makes everyone a lot nicer and very helpful… ;)

Speaking from experience from BDD… pack your bag with the expectation of crazy weather! (this is coming from the girl who packed shorts and flip flops for all three freezing, rain-soaked days at Yale… LOL.)
