Hey guys! I was admitted to Cal Poly for a Computer Engineering Major, however the problem is that I switched some classes but it was after the deadline of January 15th to edit my application to Cal Poly. This was because my semester ended after January 24th and I didn’t know I would be switching classes. Is there anything I can do or are my chances essentially gone.

Call them and ask. It likely depends on what you switched. If the new classes are less rigorous than what you previously reported, that is a risk.

It may not matter, but you need to inform them. You didn’t know means it is out of your control? Maybe a good idea to consult with your GC before contacting them.

Well AP Gov becomes Econ after 1 semester and I didn’t know that, so I put it for the whole year. And I’m going through a tough time in life, my grandma is paralyzed and she lives with me and my grandpa just had a stroke and he too became paralyzed and it’s weighing on me. Like every night I’d hear my grandma holler and scream but I can’t really do anything because she’ll just scream if I stop her 10 minutes later. That on top of 3 Ap’s got to me so I went from AP English to CP English. I’m still taking AP Gov/Econ and AP Calculus AB. I guarantee you under normal circumstances I would not have switched out of any AP class, but it’s just too hard to deal with all the stress.

With your change in schedule, how many total AP and/or honors semesters will you have?

Well this year I will still have AP Gov and AP calc. Last year I took AP English, Pre-Cal Honors, and Physics Honors. I have one semester of AP English done for this year.

You can only count 8 honors/AP/IB semesters in your GPA anyway, so you should be fine. A drop from AP English to CP English only hurts IF you haven’t already got the max number of bonus semesters.
