Hello! s
So I as a MT hopeful, I was admitted to Ball State as a B.A Theatrical Studies major. I was told the fall of my sophomore year of college I could reaudition for the Musical Theater program. Does anyone know of someone who has done this before, is it a good idea to attend and reaudition, will I receive training in other areas that will help me grow for the audition, or how good are the chances of being accepted the following year?
I’m skeptical about this process and curious about Ball States Theatrical Studies program.
If anyone has any information on any of these topics I’d love to know more!
I know of several students who have successfully re-auditioned for MT, though I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of the numbers or the chances of acceptance. The Theatrical Studies option is a strong major in its own right, and many find it to be a very good fit. Take a look at the curriculum information found on the Dept. of Theatre and Dance website, and arm yourself with questions to ask the department. I’m sure they would be happy to answer your questions and help you sort out your thoughts about this option.
Thank You so much! I will.
My D is a second year MTO at Ball State. I know several kids that started in the BA Theater Studies program that then auditioned into the BFA for either the MTO (music theater option) or AO (acting option) BFA as freshmen. So go for it! Great school, great program!
