for those of you who were admitted, is ucla your top choice? if not, which schools are you waiting on or are comparing against?

It's funny becuase UCLA was one of those schools I didn't even mention when I talked about where I applied becuase I never thought I could get in LoL. Now that I'm in, and invited to the honors thing, I'm ecstatic and the acceptance has taken away most of my nervousness about college. The school is absolutely perfect! It has super strong programs in everything I'm interested in: Political Science, Theater etc...Its location is unbeatable and going there would cost less than what my parents are paying now for high school...I just love it. haha

I've heard from SDSU, but UCLA definitely is higher on my list than that school. I'm waiting to hear from UCSB, Claremont McKenna, and USC. What about you guys?!

I'm waiting for UVa. I have an NROTC scholarship there, but I can transfer it. I'll have to do some more research.

Waiting for Cal. If I get in, then it's gonna be hard to make a choice.

I'm waiting for Stanford's decision and Georgetown's Financial Aid package. UCLA is tied with those two. Nothing is for sure yet until May 1st.

"I'll have to do some more research."
That, or simply go back to each campus and figure it out then.
On another note, I don't even see how you can get days off for the UCLA thing on Apr. 12/13, and then the UCB one on the 15th. It's like asking to get a week off almost, lol. But that's the only way I'll figure out where I should be. So far, the UCB people were the best, .. but then, I have not met a single person from UCLA on a personal basis yet.

well im thinking of prob waiting for all my college decisions to pour in.

then afterwards i'll throw darts at a target with different colors for different colleges. the one i hit the most, i'll go there.

spring break is 4/9 - 4/17 for me >=]

sprinhg break is in 1 1/2 weeks

_jc- I haven't visited either campus. I'll have to make a weekend trip to Va if I get in(they'll post April 1), and I'm visiting UCLA over spring break, starting in one more blessed week. UVa's admissions decisions do not fit in with my spring break, and money is an issue, so I won't be visiting unless I do get in.

If you visit the campus I suggest booking a tour. You see so much more in a tour than you would if you went by yourself. They prefer you make reservations early because the spaces fill up fast :0) I went last spring break and it was beautiful.

thanks :)

+characters

the problem with getting a tour is they are all booked until april 27th!!...I am just going to look at it with my parents over spring break i guess...my other choices are stanford or ucm because i live really close to ucm and being in the first class and all seems cool....i dont know though...

im waiting for harvard, yale, princeton, columbia, mit, stanford and berkeley....

Waiting for Cal. Right now I have LA and USC probably with a half-tuition scholarship. I think I'd still choose UCLA over USC. If I get Berkeley, I'll have to visit both and decide. If I don't, then that's fine, because I think I'd love UCLA.

Littleol'me, money is definitely an issue when visiting some place you can't just drive to. I wouldn't to it without acceptance either, not at this point anyway.
Otherwise, I don't like the tours by themselves. They're ok, but only if you can hang around on your own afterwards. I got a completely distorted view of Berkeley after attending the tour, but I'm glad I went back & explored it on my own afterwards. Then, meeting people from there, at least I knew what I wanted to know & could ask the right questions.
I don't know if I'll go to the Welcome thingy; if my school is lame about giving nearly a week off for both UCLA and UCB, I'll pick the UCB overnight thing & see where that takes me.

littleol'me, how early did you send in your NROTC application? I'm a Junior, and I'm going to be applying for NROTC at UCLA and UVA too. Congrats on admissions, that is quite an accomplishment. NROTC sounds like a great opportunity.

same as a lot of people...its at the top of my list..but waiting for Cal and Stanford

so far im 2 for 2 (UCLA and UCI).. im still waiting on USC, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego... but yea im probably gonna go to UCLA cuz its always been my dream to go there

devils67- I actually didn't submit my application for nrotc until mid-december. I'm a procrastinator in all that I do; I am proud to say my UC apllication was a whole four hours early(before deadline). When I was considering marine corps option, the recruiters were very...persistent. Navy option has more spots, though. Get it in as early as possible and you'll probably have your scholarship sooner. A girl I know submitted hers back in June and got hers by.. september, I think. If you haven't got a 650 in math on your SAT I, keep trying for it, and get at least a 600 in verbal(though you probably have both) and they'll let you know if you have your scholarship as soon as you finish the interview. Otherwise, you get to wait. Sorry for the length, but I wish I'd known some of this before I started.
