So I am a recently graduated high schooler who got accepted into a state university. It was hell waiting for acceptance - it took 4 months for them to send me an acceptance letter. This school has rolling admissions so most everyone found out if they got in within two weeks. I emailed them asking if they had gotten my application and they said yes and to expect a reply within 4-6 weeks from a certain date, and even then I got my admission letter weeks past the 6 week mark. I thought that maybe they had forgotten or had lost mine, but I did end up getting in as previously said 500xs earlier in this post.
So i’m happy I’m in yeah, BUT within the application were several scholarship opportunities and I applied for almost all that were applicable to myself but I got none of them. I am a first generation American in my family, my father is a veteran, I had a 3.9 cum gpa (at the time I applied, now I’m a 3.75), I studied abroad and did a few years of high school in Australia and I have several extra curriculars in music, church activities, and general volunteering. I don’t mean to be arrogant but I thought maybe I would get at least some money - I worked hard and I know several people who had acceptance received some scholarships.
Knowing that it took ages for them to send me an acceptance letter (wait listers and rejected kids were notified before me - I missed orientation!) I am almost certain maybe I wasn’t even considered.
I don’t know if I can do anything about this, but if you have any advice please let me know. As money for college piles up I find myself more and more concerned about this. But now it probably is too late
