hehehe - wonder what this means?

Yup, the sight is up and running again but, magically, all the names that I found yesterday have magically disappeared!

So I just talked to my friend down at uiuc and he said when he got admitted he saw the Leftuiuc2005 thing. Also he said uiuc knows that people are looking into the directory. So i guess the admissions took off all the people.

So, Does UIUC do this every year? --- Add accepted applicants in the directory, remove them, then add them back in again? Doesn't seem very practical.......

Well my friend looked at it when he got admitted. He said it was because they had to set up his email at the time. I guess he said that there might have been a glitch or uiuc knew people were looking in the directories.

i dont think it mattered last year because last year was rolling. this year everyone hears on the same day

oracle, they probably have 2 databases, one offline and one online. They're probably updating the offline one, and when the 15th hits, they'll just update the database. But it does suck, I wanna know my decision now!

I think they did it this way instead of rolling to decrease the complaints. That's what my counselor said. After they post the decisions on Dec. 15th, they are leaving for Winter Break. No one will be able answer phone calls in the admission department. It wasn't the students who called to complain. It was the parents who questioned why their son or daughter got rejected or deferred. What many people fail to realize is that UIUC has to consider other things as well such as diverage, female/male ratios, ranks, GPA, ACT scores, and etc.

Very well put Visali!

This is why they did this:

Now, more college admissions officials also appear to recognize their role in causing stress. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for example, is mailing admission notices on only two dates this year rather than notifying each student as soon as a decision is made. That "caused a lot of anxiety in other students," says assistant admissions director Gregg Perry. "They would (try) to figure out why (they had not) heard yet. They would discuss the issue with their counselors, call admissions, talk to their friends. ... Just when the anxiety would die down, another friend would get a notice and start the angst all over again."

I think it was just a mistake. In all the past years the admit names automatically go into the directory and it wasn't a problem because it was rolling. This is the first year it was not rolling and as soon as people started calling they pulled all the names. I'm sure next year there will be no names until the 15th.

Thank you, Bailey. It was three or so in the morning for me when I wrote my message. I noticed an error in my post. I put diverage...I meant diversity. Sorry about that.

I agree with Jeannie. It was probably a little mishap to see names in the directory. They'll be more careful next year. :)

I'm so anxious. God, I will know this Friday. Wow. I'm excited and scared to know.

question....So for those of you who saw the Left UIUC thing, does that mean confirmed admission?

Obviously we can't be 100% sure until Dec. 15th, but yes, that's the general assumption.

I have this feeling i got rejected :( damn and I thought I was a shoe-in

My counselor says nothing is guarenteed or finalized until Dec. 15th. Hopefully, it does mean you are accepted. Oh, I can't wait til it's friday! :)

The one main thing is that very few OOS students were put into the directory. We had 8 kids apply EA from my school down here in Texas and not one of their names was listed..including my friend with a 34 ACT and 2% in class at EXTREMELY comeptitve high school (Bellaire). So for those OOSers, no worries..and he applied LAS

1 more DAY!!!!
