Hi I'm admitted into NEU early action for music industry but I might be getting two Cs this semester in AP Stats and AP Environmental. I've never taken an AP before and my GPA getting into NEU was 3.2 and since im in 3 AP's this year its now a 3.6 even with the two Cs. So my GPA has gone up but I'm scared their gonna freak about the C's. But I have an A in AP Music Theory and that's why I'm at the school, for music business. Any opinion? Am I in trouble?

No, you’re not in trouble.

I am in a similar situation. I don’t know my exact GPA, but I think it was around 4.0 weighted (the NU rep who visited my school said they add 0.5 to honors classes and 1.0 to AP’s).

I received the highest (17k) Dean’s scholarship (which to be honest I was absolutely shocked by), and I am now “in the running” for the full Trustee scholarship.

My first semester grades this year might be less than stellar. If I want a better shot at the Trustee scholarship (which is given out about April 1st), should i send them my semester grades (which will probably be lower than the GPA I applied with), or just don’t send them? I know for a fact that EA acceptees are not obligated to send the semester grades (just the end-of-year grades in June), but I don’t know whether they require them if you want the Trustee scholarship.

When I say that they could be lower, it could be a full 0.5 below my original GPA, or maybe even more. I do have more AP’s this year (4 as opposed to 2 last year), but I don’t even know if that’ll make up for the drop.

we don’t have to send semester grades?!?!? how do you know??? that’s amazing because I know I will bring them up!!

You must send in your December-ish grades, even if you were EA and already got in. If you were accepted as EA or as RD, you must also send in your June-ish grades as well.

My son was accepted early action. I’m pretty sure that he only needs to send his end of the year transcript and proof of graduation. I will have him check his paper work.

is there a certan deadline to send these grades in??

As per the website:

“Early Action candidates should send their first-term grades as soon as they are available.”

[Northeastern University Undergraduate Admissions > High School Students > Required Materials](http://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/highschool/materials.html)

Well I spoke with an admissions director, regarding my exact situation (possibility of a Trustee scholarship), and when I asked him if I should (or must) send my semester grades, he said:

"I would recommend that you submit your midterm grades to us as any information will help us going forward. It will not affect the current scholarship you have received. "

The way he phrased it, he makes it sound optional. There is a certain point where sending the grades would hurt me. (as in, if I got 60’s and 70’s in every class, it’s better just not to send it if I want a higher chance of getting the scholarship).

So I really don’t think we’re required to send the grades, just the ones in June and proof of graduation.

What I’m asking, though, is whether it is better to send in lower grades (about 0.5 GPA points lower than the GPA I applied with), than to just not send them at all, if I want to maximize my chances of being considered for the Trustee scholarship.

If they are lower than what the admins have seen so far…don’t send them unless specifically requested. That is what I would recommend to my son or daughter in your situation…but I’m certainly not a Admissions counselor.

No, he meant that your midterm grades won’t affect your scholarship. So if they offered you 14k, and you got a C, they won’t make it 11k.

I work in the admissions office. You must send in your midterm and final grades.

That’s weird, I don’t doubt you about being in admissions but I called admissions today and they told me I dont need to send in mid term grades and they only want my final transcript. Was this false information?

or were you saying in the case of being up for a scholarship? thanks!

We were always told you need to send in midterm grades. But I’ve sent an e-mail to my supervisor to check. The rule might have changed in the past semester; a lot of things did. I’ll tell you when he responds back.

If the office said you don’t though, then I suppose you don’t. But like I said, I’m double-checking, just in case.

thank you so much for checking. yah please let me know. maybe since i was admitted early action they might not need them?

Well when I applied (high school class of 08), I was accepted EA and I had to submit my midterm grades. I haven’t gotten an e-mail back yet, so I’ll go into the office to check tomorrow.

a student called me to congratulate me and told me they dont need them. just final transcripts :)

haha yeah we just had the Phonathon. Personally I don’t enjoy doing it because I hate phones, but some people love it. I remember being really rude when people called me… I feel bad about it now.

But congrats! That’s good to hear.
