Adobe Creative Suite vs Creative Cloud

Hello all,

Was thinking of using my free license for Adobe CS6. Adobe announced that the new version is Creative Cloud, a subscription based model. Do you think Berkeley will offer a deep discount on Creative Cloud or offer it for free?

A couple of things to consider: CS6 will remain on the computer after graduation (though you are supposed to uninstall it), CC has better features and is constantly upgraded.

I'm leaning towards downloading CS6 now to avoid getting caught up in the subscriptions.

I don’t see Adobe will offer Creative Cloud free or at deep discounts to educational institutions. The target customers of Creative Cloud are designer teams needing the bleeding edge technologies. The greatest burden on Adobe is the cost of providing support. The hefty cost of Creative Cloud (compared to normal CS licenses) reflects that. Students don’t need nor can afford bleeding edge technologies.

CS6 license costs you nothing. What do you have to lose?

There wasn’t much to lose. It was losing additional functionality vs keeping the free software. I looked at the new feature set, and it isn’t anything too groundbreaking. Thanks for the help!
