My S had a great time at ADOCH, and I enjoyed the parent sessions. It was very well organized and a wonderful feel from the student organizers came through. I wondered if any others attended and what they thought about it.

Thanks burry for posting. We weren’t able to go, so I’m hoping to hear all about it!

Curious what the role of the host for the students was. My son was essentially shown the room where he could put his sleeping bag and told to enjoy the next two days. Is that what most hosts did or did some actually take the time to get to know the prospective students and facilitate the activities during ADOCH?

I’m going to post this in the main forum, as I think it will get more looks.

So I loved ADOCH and it is weighing very heavily on my currently ongoing decision process. The activities were well organized and despite a bit of confusion as far as parking and registration that likely could have been easily alleviated with a few signs, it went very smoothly. My two hosts were extremely accommodating and actually were useful resources. During the first day up until about 10 pm, I roamed around by myself with a couple new acquaintances that I met during the barbecue. One of my hosts went to bed at 11, so my interaction with him was obviously limited. My other host had a midterm (some kind of exam) the following day but was nice enough to take me and the other pre-frosh rooming there to one of the parties going on. I don’t drink, so even though we were surrounded by a scene where imbibing was prevalent, my host included me in all the activities and I felt no pressure by anyone to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with. The following day I spent on my own exploring classrooms and such, but I truly enjoyed the experience my host offered me.
