There are honestly so many ways to engage with the literary world (including creating new opportunities!), and the Adroit Journal Summer Mentorship Program is just one of them. I encourage those of you who weren’t admitted to explore other programs and other resources out there, as well as to pursue your own ideas!
Clearly the demand for teen writing connection and support far outweighs the supply of such opportunities. Truly exemplary art and artistic initiatives have to initiate from this sort of area of passion.
@heyimpeter No, you weren’t being harsh at all, don’t worry <3 I applied to Adroit in order to get experience as a writer, I was just asking about the resume because credit would be nice as well. But I can totally see how it came across and I apologise!!
@heyimpeter I saw that adroit was open for new staff applications. Would you encourage those of use who weren’t accepted to the summer mentorship program to apply?
@heyimpeter, Your organization deserves high praise for this free mentorship program. Kudos to Adroit. However, you are sending mixed messages on the “resume” thing when you prominently display the awards and colleges of your mentees. I get that you want lots of applications and publicity for this excellent program. But it’s a bit hypocritical to on the one hand discuss that mentees should not view this as a resume builder and then brag about your mentees resumes. Of course, the two activities are not mutually exclusive, either. Have a great summer!
@bluets The mentor pairings are on the website! Just go to the list where all the mentees for 2019 are included, and the word “Mentees” will be a link to a pdf with all the students and their mentors. Congratulations!
