Has anyone heard that they are a semifinalist for the ADS competition?

nope, haven't heard anything yet. hopefully they start notifying soon! ADS was fun MSU campus looks so amazing

YAY, DS was contacted....He's a finalist! How many finalists are there, does anyone know?

My S got a call and has a phone interview set up for tomorrow with an admin and someone from the Honors College. They said it would last about 15 minutes and touch on the essays the kids wrote at the end of the ADS test, as well as extra-curriculars and plans for the future.

He seemed proud to make it to the next step in the process, but still doesn't know if MSU is the right place for him. It sure sounds good to DH and I because of all the scholarship money - still waiting for decisions from his reach schools so this looks like it won't be over till May 1st. Frustrating!

Congrats to mamacol and d101parent! Good luck to both S. My D got a "you suck" letter in the mail. (That's what we've decided to call bad news) However, she was happy. My H wanted her to attend MSU, yet this is not her first choice. She feels the pressure is off now to make her dad happy. She will probably take the full-ride offered by one of her preferred schools.

Momofsam1: I'm sure your daughter doesn't "suck" LOL, and I am sure MSU still wants her, and all the other 1200 kids who showed up at the testing weekend. My theory is that MSU knew EXACTLY who they were going to interview prior to the test: finalist status IMO was based on the ACT and transcripts, but the test weekend was just to get all the "high achieving" kids to E. Lansing for their sales pitch.

I hope DS wins it!! I know the chances are small, but that would be sooooo sweet!!

Anyone else in the running? Good Luck to all!

Did anyone end up winning?

no, not here! Just an additional $2500/yr scholarship. S was VERY disappointed. Now it's off to Pitt for the chancellors scholarship interview next weekend.

I see...well, good luck to him!
