Ok, after Calculus BC, do you take Calculus III or Linear Algebra? Which is harder and which do colleges like? Thanks for the help!

*** does it matter what colleges like.

IT IS WHAT YOU LIKE

God damn, no wonder so many people "qualified" get rejected from top colleges. They do everything just to get in, not because they enjoy learning. Choose one your more interested in because it won't make/break your application if you choose the "wrong" one.

I think Linear is a good idea--if it's not already a pre-requisite for Cal III, it would at least be very beneficial, considering that Cal III uses lots of linear algebra in it.

I know that here, we have to take Linear before we can take Cal III (since I'm in linear right now--most boring math course ever created).

Very little linear algebra is used in multivariable calculus. Maybe you're thinking of differential equations? Either that or it's an arbitrary requirement in my opinion.

Take whichever one has the better teacher. If the teachers are comparable, take whichever one is the most interesting to you. If you have no opinion, take Calc III - linear algebra can be boring until you take later science/engineering classes and realize how fundamental it is.

Edit: I don't think colleges would view them significantly differently.

Stanford mixes up Linear Algebra, MV calculus and DiffEq in a year-long sequence that most techies and economics majors take freshman year. Some exposure to either MV or LA before starting the sequence couldn't hurt.

You're taking Calc III in high school? My school offers ap calc as our highest math class.

Sephiroth226: lol, I got into Penn ED already. Only reason why I asked "which would colleges like" was to keep it on topic with this board...sorry if I offended you, just wanted to see what was next in line for me

Thanks every1 else for your help :)

There are some juniors in our school who take BC Calc, so I think when they are seniors they might take Calc III..whatever comes after BC Calc.
