Hey all,
I used this website quite a bit when I was in high school and I am now a PhD student at a state university. This forum was a great resource for me and I got a lot out of it.
I received some acceptances to some prestigious universities (thanks to CC and questbridge) but ultimately decided to attend my local public university.
Missouri Southern State University has just launched an accelerated medical school program in partnership with KCU called Yours To Lose (I know the name leaves much to be desired lol).
It basically allows you to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in 3 years and guarantees admittance to medical school at the KCU satellite campus in Joplin Missouri.
If you are confident that you want to be a doctor, I would highly recommend that you consider applying to this program for multiple reasons. Firstly, it hasn’t been heavily advertised so the competition won’t be nearly as fierce getting in. Secondly, MSSU is an incredibly cheap school. My yearly tuition and fees (including room and board) were about 16k a year and I received enough scholarships and grants to graduate debt free. The cost of living in Joplin is very cheap compared to other areas.
You can find more information about the accelerated program at www.MSSU.edu
I don’t know much about the medical school stuff because I was in the business college, but I can answer any questions you all may have about the area. This looks like a great opportunity for some of people who frequent this site.
Thanks for sharing. Is this program only for in state students or open any state residents?
It’s open to any applicant as far as I know.
It also may be useful to know that the application deadline is December 1st

Is the med school a D.O. school? No need to take MCAT is a great plus.
KCU SOM is a med school not a DO school./
