Advanced Placement Exam

I have been accepted and plan to enroll as a international student. The problem is that I haven't taken any AP exams up to now. However, I can take it this year(May). Some people say that I'd better take it which can save tuition and make your college life not that busy, while others say that it is not useful any more since AP is mostly used in the adimissions so that I'd better make good use of the time to do other things and they say AP is much easier than the course at Tech. I am confused about it now. Can anybody give me some of your opinion?
What's more, I found this on the web:
"If you have taken a high school calculus course and achieved an SAT I mathematics score of 650 or higher, you may take the School of Mathematics Advanced Placement Exam in calculus during freshman orientation. This exam is an alternative to College Board Advanced Placement Exams. If you pass the exam, you will receive credit for MATH 1501. You may also be approved for subsequent course exams."
I got a Math 800 and can take this exam, but I don't get the meaning of the last sentence. Can I take the subsequent course exams? And what are they?

It depends. I would always take AP credit in classes like English, Government, etc. If you’re not required to take Chem II, then I would take credit for Chem I.

Taking credit for Calc I is a little more gray. Calc II is one of the lowest GPA classes at Tech because students take AP credit for Calc I and shouldn’t have. In addition, Fall in the most difficult semester for Calc II because everyone in the class has taken AP credit. If you feel like you’re extremely confident in Calc - like you went to a very good high school and could probably teach it, then I would take the AP credit. Otherwise, I would take Calc I at Tech, which should be an easy A and boost your GPA. The same goes for classes like Physics I and Chemistry I if you have to take the subsequent course in the series.

It sounds like if you do well enough on the MATH 1501 exam, they’ll let you take an exam to exempt MATH 1502.

what AP score would you suggest to exempt calculus 1?

Hey guys, I arranged Computer Science A 5th edition Barrons from somewhere, but currently there is a 6th Edition as well. Considering GridWorld case study has been removed and all, is it worth it for me to buy the 6th edition? Has this change been made in it?

Wait… So you’ve ready been accepted to Georgia Tech? How?

The original post is from 2010

Oh… Then why is it here? Haha
