Advanced Placement Exams

DS is very happy to have recently been accepted into GT and is trying to get an idea of what his courses would look like. He is strong in Math and CS and it looks like there might be the possibility to take a test to demonstrate his knowledge via Departmental Exams.

From what it looks like though if he were to take/pass the test for Linear Algebra, for instance, it seems they will allow credit for the course but you must pay for those credits. It seems a bit much to pay GT for knowledge he acquired elsewhere, instead he would prefer to take a higher level class, such as Lin Alg II, instead. Does anyone have any knowledge of this and/or can comment on how this works exactly?

For what it is worth, he is not necessarily trying to skip classes as much as just not wanting to repeat info he knows already.

Thanks!
