Advanced Standing in MIT

Hey all, I understand that MIT grants advanced standing for those who have done gce a levels. However, does the board which offers the a levels matter in this case?

At MIT, advanced standing is granted subject by subject. As a rule biology and chemistry departments do not grant advanced standing based on A level results. Only by taking the MIT advanced placement exams (which are very difficult) can you get credit in those subjects. You can get 12 units credit in math with a grade of A or B in your A level exams and 12 units in physics with a grade of A. I don’t believe where you take your A-levels matters.

Thank you very much =)
