Advantage Application?

I didn't get into my first choice school, and now I'm getting a little worried that filling out the Advantage Application at Marquette might do just the opposite. Does anyone know how the AA is compared to people who put in a regular application?
Marquette is my second choice, and I really hope to get in.

Did Marquette extend the application deadline? When I applied using the Advantage App the deadline was December 1.

I'm curious as to how some of us were selected for the Advantage Application -- was it at random, or what?

Ha, did anyone else seriously LOL when they got their Christmas card from Marquette Admissions? So cheesy it was funny.

I'm not sure if they extended the date or not. Mine went in on November 15.

And I think the AA was selected based on test scores, maybe? I'm not quite sure.

And oh my gosh. I got this thick envelope from Marquette like two weeks after I sent in my application, and I was shaking while I thought, "It can't be this soon, can it?!" and then it was this hilariously lame (yet oh-so-wonderful) card. Haha, I griped about it for about a week saying, "Who does this? Keep your extra paper. Save some trees. Don't contact me until you give me a decision -grumblegrumblegrumble-."

Does anyone know when Marquette will start mailing decisions, and if people who used the AA will hear back first?

I got a phone call that said they'll be mailing out decisions mid-January. I'm not sure if AA means you hear earlier or not.

Haha, gosh. I really did something I know very little about.

I visited, which is why I thought they offered me the advantage application. I don't think those with the AA find out earlier. The "advantage" part was that we had no fee and no new essay and a chance at winning a marquette baseball hat. And yes, Ibellibie, I did laugh when I got my Christmas card because I am Jewish.

"And yes, Ibellibie, I did laugh when I got my Christmas card because I am Jewish."

Is it wrong that I still haven't stopped laughing at that? Hahahahahahaha.

And I didn't think about getting the AA because I visited. Hmm.

Quick survey: If you got an invitation to use the AA, did you visit Marquette?

Yeah, kyleguy90 -- that was hilarious! Thank you! :)

I didn't visit Marquette, and I was invited to use the AA.

Well, there goes that theory.
Hmm, any other ideas?
I was thinking that our test scores might have had something to do with it, but how would they get the scores? Unless it had something to do with that whole, "If you'd like to receive information from colleges, put down your e-mail address and ____!" thing. I don't know.

I just don't want to wait until January to find out!

I think its based on test scores because I didn't visit Marquette before applying. I did have my scores sent to them though.

Well, I didn't have my test scores sent to Marquette until mid-November - after they sent me the Advantage Application. However, I did sign up to be on their mailing list and they have you put in your prospective major, and I started receiving items in the mail for that specific major along with programs surrounding it. (Really random stuff, too. Stuff I've never received from any other school.)

Is it possible they sent the AA to people who selected a prospective major for a program they'd like to beef up? Actually, I have no idea. That's the only thing I could think of in my case, though.

I asked if the people who used the AA will find out earlier because my friend who applied with it is already accepted into Marquette. She applied in early September and in October she was interviewed by Marquette. Then about 2 week later they called her and she was accepted.

As for who gets the AA, I think it has to do with what JKaiser807 wrote about because I got applications like Marquette's AA from schools I've never considered. I haven't visited or sent test scores to any of them before they sent me their special applications. I think it might be because we agreed to receiving information from them.

I sent my scores there, visited, signed up to recieve information, and was invited to use the AA. So I guess I'm not of much help. I didn't use the AA however because you could not use it and be endorsed by an Alumni. I asked the university if one was better than the other, and they said no. Since I was planning on writing an essay anyway, I just used the other application and was endorsed.

As for the Christmas card...I found it very cute, no other place I applied to did that. haha

As for their response..I have a few friends who applied last year and they recieved their letters around the 15th of Jan. So...only 3-ish weeks! YAH!

I heard that Marquette doesn't do interviews. I hope I don't get a rejection letter on my birthday (Jan. 16) that would be terrrible.

Maybe it wasn't an interview but I know she met with the admissions people from the School of Education and then they called her home and told her she was in.

They offered me an interview, but maybe that's because I'm homeschooled? I didn't do it, because I don't have the money to get all the way over there, but I think it's an indication they do have interviews.

So, after I sent in my application, they told me I'd hear from late December to mid-January. I haven't heard yet.

Any word for anyone else?

No word here.

My daughter hasn't heard yet either. We think one day this week, based on last year's letters.
