What are the advantages of applying early action over regular decision (especially at UChicago)? Do you get better chances for admission ? Better chances for scholarships?

You get peace of mind, and that’s usually about it. There are exceptions, but you’d have to check with each school. A phone call should get you their policy on EA decisions, or you can check the Common Data Set, which has the numbers.

Scholarship policies vary, too. Many schools require you to submit your app before some deadline to be considered for them, but others consider everyone later in the season. You’ll have to check school by school.

Just bumpin’.

Usually not better chances for admission because you are not a locked-in applicant even if you get in. Usually they say your chances are the same EA and RD. You know earlier EA though.
