Advantage to applying early?

I spoke with my guidence counselor today and she said that its actually quite common the early decision pool at some colleges is harder to get in to than the regular decision. My whole life, ever since I can remember it has been my dream to attend Syracuse University more specifically the Newhouse School of Public Communications, and I've worked hard in highschool to make sure that i have the necessary stats to get in. However, I do realize how selective this school is and by no means am I sure to get in, hence my apprehensions to the whole application process in general. lol! My question is, since I'm so sure that I want to attend Newhouse, is it advantageous to apply early to Newhouse or is it harmful? Also, which application pool is weaker generally? Thanks for your help! :)

The director of the visitors office says the early pool is generally a little weaker. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply, im definitely convinced applying early is the right thing for me!
