Hello,
I've been taking acting classes in LA for some time now, and some (Ivana Chubbuck's) is based on Adler's use of Substitution. I just want to make sure that I won't be paying $50,000 a year to learn the same concepts at an acting in LA.

Back in the stone age when there were very few college level programs it didn’t really matter that you couldn’t put a BFA from Juilliard or an MFA from Yale on your resume. Times have changed, however. More and more agents are looking for a degree from a prestigious program as a “seal of approval”. Right or wrong (and I tend to think wrong, but they don’t listen to me) this seems to be the way it is at the moment.

Will you go over some things twice? Certainly. But also a BFA

Sorry. Seem to have hit some sort of “send” shortcut. As I was saying…with a BFA program you will likely encounter much more intensive movement, voice and speech training, which in my opinion are invaluable to an actor - no matter where you get them. There is also a good deal of attention paid to developing imagination.

As I always say though, if you walk in the door and you are what they are looking for then - unless you trip over yourself or are totally incapable of speech - you are likely to get the job no matter what, if anything, you took your degree in.
