Advantages of public/privates colleges?

What some advantages of attending public colleges and some advantages of private colleges?

Asking the same question 2 or 3 different ways in 2 or 3 different threads is frowned upon.

kenf1234,
I think the OP is obviously not satisfied with the responses he/she is getting. Let’s provide whatever answer we can to help this apparent high school student make an informed decision when he/she applies to colleges.

Advantages of attending public colleges:
Lots of research opportunities (though lots of students are competing for those opportunities as well)
More classes to choose from (depending on each school)
Cheaper tuition

Advantages of attending private colleges:
More attention from teachers (though not always the case)

Usually the biggest advantage of a public U is the price if you’re in state.

Some, like UVA and W & M mimic the private school experience.

Others, like Mich and Berkeley have strong business schools for undergrads, something few top privates have.

Cons would be big classes, hard to get classes, crowds in general and the fact that anything government run will have lots of red tape and less money to spend on resources.
