Why make life harder by skipping out of intro courses and taking harder classes? If you don't intend to graduate early or double major, why do it? Do grad schools care?

Why waste your time learning something you already know?

Graduate schools do care if a student took advanced courses. For one thing, it shows you are interested in the material, for another, your background is going to be more complete as far as graduate study is concerned. The other advantage is that you may come to the point where you take graduate courses in your field of interest - a huge plus on a grad school app.

That question is a very revealing portrait of the state of education. 'Why learn more if there's no tangible result'? Everyone is used to working towards a goal...

Uh, because maybe you want to LEARN more? Hmmm, taking classes because you actually want to learn something - what a concept!
