Ohhhhh! Here’s a fun one!!! My girls would love this! So would I!!!
My daughter just let me know that See’s Candy is going to have an advent calendar this year! It is posted on the See’s Candy IG.
@Dolemite, if your son plays a lot of D&D, have you seen this advent calendar? It’s pricey, but when I saw it, I thought of your post.
Everyone seems to think that it’s a scam. That you’ll definitely NOT get anything close to what they are showing. I’ve decided to make my own for him.
My kids have always had them. Even now my 18 year old gets a chocolate one and a Lego one! They are so much fun. This year I got my Mum a wine advent calendar of her own. I’ll see how she likes it (I already know how much she likes wine).
My kids (16, 18, 20) still get the cheap chocolate advent calendars. This year D19 is in Rome but we are going to visit and get there December 2nd so I’ll try to remember to bring one with me if I’m allowed.
Last year I bought one for DH that was a nice box of 24 short stories, sadly that was the last year the company made them. Luckily we never read all of the stories so I’ll probably bring it out again this year! I wanted to get one of the wine calendars for myself but at Costco they were mixed red and white and I only like red so skipped it.
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that! I didn’t look into it at all. If I can delete the other post, I will!
And it looks like Trader Joes has their 99 cent chocolate advent calendars on the floor now.
I must be the odd one out because before this year, I had never heard of Advent calendars that were anything but paper calendars with windows you’d open each day. Some of them had pictures behind the window and some had verses or something written.
I did not know they made them with actual “stuff” for every day!
Advent calendars seem to be big this year! Saw a cheese one at the local grocery store. And how about this one? Expensive!!

We have been enjoying the Jacquie Lawson online ones for the last couple of years. I send one to each ‘away’ kid, and also use them as presents for a few people (they discount heavily after the first few!). There are fun, with other activity-type things (decorate the tree / some puzzles / etc), with a new something each day. This year’s one is set in London, featuring the iconic sites from Big Ben to the London Eye.
That is really cute. Thanks for sharing.
It is Dec 3. Any feedback on this year’s advent calendars so far?
My D is loving the L’Occitane advent box. Thanks for the recommendation on this thread!
I think my kid already ate all of the chocolates out of her TJ “cocktail hour” Advent calendar. Lol.
The OPI advent calendar is a hit. D23 is loving each day getting a new color of nail polish and the size is perfect for trying colors without total commitment of a full size.
Our wine advent calendar day 3 so far so good. Liked all the wines: Verdicchio, Vermentino and a Rose Sangiovese. The small bottles yield 2 glasses. Next up, ( I peeked) is a Tempranillo for Saturday.
I’ve always loved advent calendars! My husband and son get a chocolate one, generally Godiva but this year I bought from Jacques Torres (Godiva is better). I knit, and there are so many yarn advent calendars. A couple of years ago I found a cute wooden advent calendar based on Legend of Zelda - Majora’s Mask that my son still uses. I think I still have a few tubes of lotion from a past L’Occitane calendar.
What were the daily gifts in the knitting advent calendar? Like little balls of colored yarn??
