Hi, I am sorry to post like this, but i figured it would get more attention. I am confused of who to get recommendations from. I am very sure that I am going to get a recommendation from my AP Chemistry teacher ( who nominated me for a scholership n loved me) but till today I thought I could ask threee or four teachers for recommendation.

Until....

My history teacher told me that I should get recommendations from only 2 teachers. Thus, I dont know who to get it from. I have three choices

History honors- The class was awesome and the teacher loved me, and knows me very well. I did excellent and was the best student there. I def know I will get a good one from him.

PHysics honors and AP- I have him for two years and he knows me very well. He also nominated me for d scholership...I am also doing an independent study with him and I know i will get a good recommendation from him. However the con is that 2 sciece teacher recommendations would perhaps hurt my application?

and finally, AP calculus- I did awesome and was only the 2nd junior to ever take AP cal in junior year...he knows me and i know i would also get a good one from him...

So Dear Advisors, the dilemma is to ask who?????????

Well, first off you need to know how many you'll need.
No history teacher can tell you this.

Before you make any decisions, find that out (but find out SOON), such as using the college websites of the school's you're applying to.

Some colleges may say "ONLY send #", or 'send # but if you want to send more you can.'
If you ask more teachers than necessary, it may end up awkward to tell a teacher "thanks, but no thanks."

I personally need 3 teachers and the 4th is an advisor from out of school... but I only need so many because of scholarship applications.

thanks johnson, I think i know what I will do.

Yes, I agree with Johnson. My son had to narrow it down from a field of at least 8 (we homeschool, so are not going with traditional teachers). He wrote to all his schools, and we got answers back from 2 or 3 will suffice to bring them on!

Many schools want at least one math/science and one humantities, so definitely do not axe the history teacher.

OTOH, I have heard that any extra recs should show something different. They really do not need 4 teachers saying what an excellent student you are.

I heard it was standard to include a gift for the teachers who write your rec's, is this true? if so, how much do you spend on them?

HELP HELP HELP
