advice about transfering to engineering

Is it true that there are many many new yorkers at u of m?
Why?

because new york is a big state…and its relatively close to michigan.

There are currently over 1,300 undergrads from New York at the University of Michigan. That’s the largest group of OOS students. Second in Illinois with 1,000 and third is a three-way tie between California, New Jersey and Ohio, each with 700. There are also roughly 1,500 international undergraduate students.

The reason for this is because a lot of Michigan alums (especially from the Business school and from the Law School) end up working in NYC, either as Lawyers or Investment bankers and they would obviously encourage their children to attend Michigan. Another reason is because NY has a population of 19 million and is only a one hour flight away from Michigan.
