Im a freshman at one of the ivies ranked in the top five. I like it but i dont love it. I applied early and didnt end up applying anywhere else. after this first semester i have realized that i do not want to spend 4 years here. Pre-professionalism seems to reign and am more interested in an education in philosophy or poli sci. After researching professors and courses that i would rather be taking i decided that i want to transfer to harvard. they value learning for the sake of learning and there are a few specific professors that i want to study with.

What I'm asking is whether it is easier to transfer since i am already at an ivy?

are the kids who transfer successfully mainly those kids who are at state schools and have take every math offered etc. and get recommendations from the dean there saying that this kid needs to transfer because he needs to take math only offered at harvard blah blah... you get the picture.

i have high sat scores and great high school extracurriculars. was 2nd in my hs class

in college ill prob end up this semester with between 3.6-3.9
im in an especially rigorous course load.

also does it look bad on the harvard app to say only applying ot harvard becuase my purpose in transfering is not to get out of current school but to go to harvard to take advantage of profs that i want to study with?
