Does applying to Early Action to schools hurt your chances of getting in regular decision if you get deferred? I would like to retake the SAT in October and Subject Tests in November, but if I do that I wouldn't be able to send the November scores in by the early action deadline. Honestly, I don't even know if I would have the October scores in by the deadlines. From what I've heard, if you get deferred early action, you then go through Regular Decision just as you would if you hadn't applied Early Action at all.

Basically, does it hurt to apply early action even if I don't think that I have my best scores in hand? Best case, I get accepted early. Worst case, I go into regular decision with the new scores and I'm where I would be if I just applied regular decision. I hope this makes sense.
