Advice Appreciated

I'm currently a sophomore in college trying to decide what subject to major in. I want to become a newspaper reporter but I also want to learn as much as possible about society. I was thinking about double majoring in either Sociology/English or Sociology/Economics with a minor in Journalism and then attending a journalism graduate school to learn more about newspaper writing and reporting.

Does this sound like a good idea or am I completely insane? What other majors would compliment a minor in journalism? Or should I just major in Journalism and scrap the grad school idea?

Advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm not a journalism student, but from what I understand, it's best to major in a Liberal Arts subject as an undergrad before proceeding to a masters program. English is a great preparation for journalism. You might also consider taking courses in Sociology and to a lesser extent, Political Science and History. These departments should have courses that provide good insight into social structures and cultures. It also depends on what you're interested in reporting about. For instance, consider minoring in Economics if you'd like to be a commentator on the stock market.
