I'm recently accepted by Binghamton(SOM) as a transfer, and am currently a Baruch student. Of course, I applied to some other schools too (those which are low reach). So assume my choice is only to stay at Baruch or go to Binghamton, what should I choose?

College life
-In term of college life, I think noone would argue with me that Binghamton is really good.

College ranking
-I know baruch has good business ranking, but Binghamton as a whole, no matter in business or others have much better reputation. Correct me if I'm wrong..Oh...btw, binghamton is a University.

Job Opportunities
This is my greatest dilemma. I've heard from this forum that Baruch offers better job opportunities, and I have no idea about its credibility. To me, I really think Binghamton is a better school, or else I wouldn't have applied. But if I go to a better school, end with lesser job opportunities, this BETTER school is not better anymore.

Baruch locates in NYC.

What do you guys think. Advice is really important to me as I'm not a native, and I've not much idea how US people view this issue.

If possible, anyone could give me more ideas about the ranking of both school. The only thing I know is Baruch is not even ranked in US news, though has good ranking in business. But as a whole, its reputation is limited outside NYC.

I’m in the same dilemma!
Wanted to ask, how do you like Baruch so far? Do you have a lot of internships? Because I heard that Baruch offers a lot of internships while you’re in school, but Binghamton mainly gets it only in the summer. Is that true? I’m deciding between the two schools so far also, so can you tell me more about baruch?
I’m not sure which business program is better, but Binghamton is mainly reputable for its accounting major

For money, Baruch is definitely cheaper if you are living with your parents. ALso, if offers city life. Third, I heard that Baruch has god job opportunities(although I don’t have any internships).

But I think I would choose Binghamton over Baruch. Have you ever been to Baruch? Or any of your fren’s in Baruch? If you have experienced it, I bet you want to go to Binghamton too except that you are those students who like to go home after school or that you have a gang of friends in New York that could hang out to places you life. Baruch seriously lacks college life. Many of my friends don’t understand why I want to transfer for college life, but if you want college life so much, you should never never choose baruch. (It feels like high school, no offense, but everyone says this in this forum). This is my main problem, though I really like the city, that’s why I waiting to hear from NYU too.

The second problem in Baruch is diversity. School are proud of their diversity, as of Baruch. But insiders know what problems it has caused. Baruch has about 50% asian (I’m asian) too. Also, most of these people come from public school in flushing or brooklyn. Of course, I don’t mean that they’re bad, but when a big group of the college is formed by this same kind of people, there is a negative effect on the school, and it’s not so diverse anymore if you rate base on background. Most of the people speak chinese in school, you hear a lot of chinese in Baruch. I wanna transfer because I want to improve my english, and to get college life. Also, since most live with parents, I would say about 80%, they’ve never been through life without parents. I don’t know how 2 describe the effect on the student body, but I think college life is part of life experience that you don’t wan to forgo.

Anyhow, I can’t give you clear ideas about Binghamton. But for college life and ranking and selectivity, it’s Binghamton for sure. Others, you need to weigh yourself. this is my advice, although me myself can’t make a good decision yet.

If you really like the city, you might not like Binghamton. I visited it a few times before, and it’s kind of isolated. Yeah, they have a lot of campus activities, but it gets tiring a while. Most students seem to have nothing much to do, but party. You should visit Binghamton and see if you like it (:

Oh yes, I got my offer from Indiana too, and I think I’ll choose Indiana over Binghamton or Baruch. It has everything I want, other than the city. Indiana is a party school like binghamton, and it has high ranking in business, though it’s more expensive.

But you are right, I really like the city. My only hope is NYU accept me.
