Advice: Best route to enter Accounting Information Systems?

Hi all,

I would like to break into Accounting Information Systems (AIS). I am currently in a 2nd bachelor’s degree program to receive a B.S. in Accountancy, but wonder what my best option is to enter AIS - specifically as a Computer Systems Analyst?

I know students typically double major in Comp Sci and Accounting (or major in one/minor in the other) but since the 2nd degree program will only take 3 semesters, I do not have any time to minor or double major.

What is the best route to obtaining a position in AIS? Would a MAcc with or without a specific AIS related track be ideal? Or maybe a MBA with a concentration in IS (or the equivalent)? Perhaps even the B.S. in Accountancy in addition to a number of related IT certifications like Security+, programming languages such as Java, etc. etc.

I do intend to obtain the CPA and other professional Accounting related certs - including CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor).

Any advice? I love working with both Systems and Accounting and would be thrilled to marry both disciplines in my career switch from Accounts Payable.

Thanks!
