Here are the colleges I'm interested in:
Reach: U of Chicago, Swarthmore, Bowdoin, Stanford, Amherst
Match: Grinell, Reed, Oberlin, Whitman, Rensselar Polytechnich Institute
I'm not sure if the last two would be "safeties" or not....
What kind of schools would be safeties for me, but still good (and small) schools? Also what kind of colleges would give me "options" considering I'm not sure what I want to do? Do the ones I have listed match this?

You could possibly consider Beloit and Knox as safeties that would give you merit aid. Beloit seems like it would be a good fit compared to your other schools, but you need to have an interview to receive merit aid. It's good to use safety schools as your first/"practice" interviews, if you haven't started yet.

Yeah, I was considering Beloit. When do these interview usually take place?

Well, I'm sure they are currently conducting interviews for student to apply this year. If you can't make it to campus, then admissions counselors come to your area. Look here:http://www.beloit.edu/%7Eadmiss/meet.php

Oh, I didn't realise it started so quickly, thanks for the info:)

Tara, I spent some time thinking about this today, and this is what I came up with:

What if you didn't go to a major MAJOR school right away? There's no sense in spending all that money on those expensive Ivy schools/U of C/RPI when you don't even know what you want to do? Why not go to a "good" school, get some credits out of the way, and THEN when you know what you want to do...transfer and go get 'em! Now, I'm not saying to go to ECC or whatever...you should still go to a school that's going to challenge you, and plus that'll show schools that you weren't taking time off to sleep until noon (that's what summer is for ;) )...and then when you do go to the bigger and better, you'll have the basics out of the way and you'll save a lot of money AND you can focus on your major and not spend time in Collge 101.

I'm going to Oberlin in a few weeks...I'll let ya know how it is!

Maybe Bowdoin and other non SAT schools for reaches, but your other reaches are unrealistic.
