<p>I'm submitting an essay to a fairly small liberal arts college and would really appreciate it if you guys can give me any feedback. Just your opinions and suggestions would be great. The prompt is the "important issue" topic on the common app. I didn't want to post my entire essay so please PM to read the rest. Thanks bunches :)</p>
<p>Food for Thought
“Taylor, am I fat?” drawled Kaci, one of my mom’s English I students.
Surprised by her question and unsure of how to reply, I just blinked at her. She, in all honesty, was more than a little overweight, and the skin-tight clothing she wore only highlighted that fact. She must have taken my silence as a yes, and began giving me all the details of her plans to lose weight. Kaci’s plan was to skip breakfast, eat a cereal bar for lunch, and then eat a normal dinner at home. As she continued talking about great she would look once she started to lose weight, the wheels in my head were turning. There were two fairly obvious fatal flaws with her plan: 1) she was going to be hungry from not eating during the day and then overeat when she got home. 2) Exercise was totally absent from her plan. I sat silently until she finished speaking, then turned and asked my mom quietly if Kaci and I could step outside so no one would overhear our conversation. My mom had been listening to everything Kaci had been saying and probably had a good idea what I wanted to tell her, so she gave us permission to leave.</p>
