Advice for a freshman in high school?

I am in-state, will be in marching band, and will be taking the most rigorous courses available to me. What should I do starting this year in order to get accepted into unc chapel hill?

never get complacent.

I thought i was a geniust aking the most rigorous courseload and was way above my peers. turned out this was not the case. I did nto study at all junior year and it really hit my GPA. ALso I did not prepare for the psat, ended up scoring a 201 which really pained me.

Never consider yourself above your peers, realize that it’s always a challenge. You already know what you want, so shoot for the stars.

I’d recommend you stop thinking about what you can do to fit UNC’s standards. Instead, shape your high school ECs and course load around YOUR interests, and come junior/senior year, you can figure out what colleges would fit YOUR needs at that time.

Don’t try to seem like a model student… do what interests you. Expose yourself to a variety of clubs/interests to find out what you like, then stick with them and try to get leadership roles. Keep your grades up, but maintain a rigorous schedule. Also, don’t waste your summers. Get internships, take classes, do anything to help yourself stand out as a motivated individual
