I was wondering if someone could suggest some schools for me. I'm looking for top colleges that emphasize the liberal arts, and wouldn't disqualify me based on low math scores/classes. I got a B+ at my state's University's precalc class, but have gotten A's in 25 credits of liberal arts classes and expect 20 more this year. I'm awaiting new SAT scores, but scored 1500+ on the CR + Writing last time. My math score is 600 though. This is my second year at my state's flagship U, and my gpa was 3.87 last year there. I predict the same this year. Thanks for the suggestions!!!

I don't think those are low test scores :-) although, of course, your math could be higher. I don't think it's unusual for someone to be a lot better in one area than another. I would just check out Choosing the Right College and look at what you wanted in a college!

Pardon me, but what do you mean by "Choosing the Right College"?

I believe it is the absolutely best college guide out there. It covers things beyond the campus atmosphere and the stats you can get anywhere, but also the real quality of education available. We have found it invaluable. Here's a link: Amazon.com: Choosing the Right College: 2008-2009: The Whole Truth about America's Top Schools (Choosing the Right College): John Zmirak, Walter E.
Where do you want to live? Are you looking for private or public? Big or small? Does it matter? What major? It's kind of hard to answer your question because there are so many colleges out there. Not to mention, your SAT and GPA are good enough for the vast majority of colleges in the US, so I can't really eliminate many based on those alone. How are your extra circulars? I'm kind of in the same boat as you.... I have a lower SAT, but higher GPA. I also have TONS of credits (50 something) from my local college, and I've had no problems getting in to the places I've applied to so far.

One last question lol.... are you a senior?

I kinda of know what I'm looking for in a college. I want a highly challenging liberal school in/near an urban area. I'd like a place with a great deal of academic rigor That's about it. Big is nice too. I'm worried about spending lots of money on apps when I don't have a chance of being accepted, especially considering my lack of skill in mathematics. I'm a senior, by the way.
