I am currently a junior in high school and this marks my most crucial year in high school. My dream college is NYU. I would love to go to a college in New York. I think I’m interested in majoring in computer science or maybe something in digital design and I would love some advice on what should I try to do this year to get to this goal of getting into colleges like NYU/Columbia or any suggestions of colleges great for majors like what I’m interested in.
I am an AP/Honors student and here are some of my stats.
I am #12 in my class.
AP SCORES:
AP Biology - 2 (I know I won’t get credit for this class)
AP Psychology - 4
AP World History - 3
I have maintained a 4.6 gpa along with my grades being A’s with an exception of one B (AP biology). I am currently preparing for the SATs as well, which I will be taking in December. I am currently taking two AP classes, AP English Language and Comp. & APUSH.
On the topic of extra curricular activities. I am in National Honors Society, Leo Club, and I’m going to be joining the Best Buddies Club at my school. However, I currently have no officer positions since most of these clubs involve voting and I always lose against those more known than me. I am hoping to attain some roles next year, but is that too late? However, I do have a job that I have had since 8th grade. I’m apart of the Digital Team at my workplace and I help manage businesses social media accounts along with creating assets for print/digital media. But do to my job, I have been unable to participate in all the activities I would want to do in my service club. Will this affect me?
Anyways, I would love some advice on what I can do to appeal better to colleges, any advice on colleges great for stuff I would be interested in, or advice on whether or not my AP scores will affect my applications for college.
