Advice for an international student!

I'm an international student applying for Fall 2013.

As you probably know, MIT requires us (international students) to submit either TOEFL or SAT scores.

I took both and got:
TOEFL - 97 (which is beyond the minimum required by MIT).
SAT - CR 540 M 780 W 590

I've already submitted the TOEFL, but I'm not sure if I should send in the SAT as well.
The 780 on math will probably help but the CR & W might hurt my chances.

I also took the SAT Subject Math II and got 770 but it won't have the same effect since it's a very common score. (80th percentile vs 98th percentile...).

Any advice?

Hi I am an international applicant too. I think u should submit your SAT subject of course. Frankly, I think u can actually submit all of them , since I heard that the colleges still like to see your SAT even if they don’t really require it for international student.
Hmm I guess so. This is what I do

@cwl1308yo, I know. I sent the SAT Math II. Do you have similar scores? My CR & W are very low.

Umm I am a bit higher than yours. CR 610 W 700 (I hate CR!!)
I am not sure, but I think u can submit it because adcom will consider the best combination for you ?!

These are very good scores for an international student. If I were you I would send in all. But I think my case is a bit diff. Thanks anyway and good luck! I hope I make the right decision!

Hi Bluth,

MIT requires all applicants, international or not, to submit the minimum 2 Subject Test scores. You may, however, withhold your SAT scores. According to MIT’s site, if you “do not speak English at home or in school, or who have been speaking English for fewer than five years” the TOEFL is completely fine to choose.

I think that that if you are close to MIT’s recommended 100+ for the TOEFL’s iBT, you should send that as well as your SAT scores. Anything to supplement the application and to give them a better idea of your abilities can’t be bad :)

I’m an international student too, but unfortunately English is my first language; no TOEFL for me :P

@BranMuffinWorthy, Thanks!
I’m afraid that I’ll ruin my chances.
I wish I could just send my SAT Math score!
