- AP English Language

My best subjects are history and math. I am in triple accelerated math, Honors Algebra 2.

Q1: Any recommendations for AP courses?

Q2: Are my stats strong enough?

Q3: Any recommendations for sophomore year?

All info and advice is greatly appreciated!

You post this same mssg across 4-5 ivy fora and you offer to chance people back. How ridiculous is that?

Just read what gibby told you in the H forum and stay off of CC for about 2 years.

Sorry, I want to plan ahead and not save gathering college info and advice for the last minute…

Props to you for getting a head start! You need to consider any and all APs that your school offers. Since it seems like you lean towards the humanities, definitely take AP World History. It is an excellent course to supplement with AP Art History. Also, be seriously considering a foreign language up to the AP level in your later years. I started Spanish II my freshman year, and am now a senior in Spanish V AP. It sounds like you’ll definitely be in BC Calculus by your senior year. If you want to appear well-rounded and multifaceted, I would take AP Physics the same year you do Calc, they go hand in hand like AP World and AP Art History do If you’re an AP scholar in the sciences, languages, AND arts, you are golden.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Do good in all these classes you load up on. I loaded up my first two years and kinda slacked off. Now I’m paying. There’s going to be all kinds of temptations that will deter you from studying, but just keep thinking about how bad you want to be wearing those Columbia colors and you’ll power through. Good luck.

Thanks so much!!!

Relax… you’ll have your whole junior and senior years to stress out about college… just do what you love… pursue your passions through both academics and extracurriculars, as well as summer and volunteer activities… don’t do what you think will impress ivy league admissions officers… with top schools admissions being a crapshoot, it’s just pointless. be unique and be yourself and enjoy life.

I suggest taking AP Statistics if your school offers it. Are you taking any languages?

Yes. I am currently taking Spanish II as a freshman, and loving it! I will definitely be taking Honors Spanish III next year. (My school only offers honors science and math in 9th grade) Do you suggest taking AP Spanish?
