So my cousin is a prospective international student. He didn’t score very high on the SAT so he is interested in coming to a California Community college. Would the UC/Cal State TAG requirement be in place what GPA would he need to maintain to transfer to a respectable UC or Cal state
@“aunt bea” @mom2collegekids asking for advice
Some UCs don’t have TAG.
He would have also to get a student visa and do well. If he didn’t do well on the SAT, he might not do well at those Schools.
It’s just that he decided last minute to come here and he got a 1600 without prep, he has the student visa in place. So he’s deciding between community college in california or other uncompetetive colleges. I recommended him to go to community college it’s just he wants to know if the TAG system would work for international students
I’d check with each receiving university about their admission policies for international students. For example, I found the following on the website of UC Santa Cruz:
TAG applies to all CCs that have it, BUT international students must prove they’re able to pay 55K each year after CC.
Do you know how much Cal state’s are for internationals
Google it
Cal states on average which include tuition/room/board for OOS/Internationals are around $36K/year. If just interested in tuition, around $20K/year not including books, transportation etc…
