Advice for first-ever college audition

Had another thought about auditions in different venues:

Don’t allow yourself to be upset by the acoustics (and the sound you hear yourself produce) in the audition room.

Auditions can take place in many different settings - terrific recital hall, orchestra/band rehearsal room, large stage generally used for full orchestra performances, teaching studios, classrooms, etc. etc. Some students are so “shook” by the first few notes they hear produced in a new, untried venue that the nerves take over. Even if the sound isn’t ideal to your ears, the faculty will hear beyond the room’s acoustical feedback. Some settings can be surprisingly dead - don’t be shocked if you run into this. Everyone else will be playing/singing there also!
