I will be starting my first internship during this fall . Looking for any helpful advice. The company is a pretty decent size software company. I would be interning at one of their newer offices in my location. Was a little shocked they hired me but I am very grateful. I guess the little small things you do really matter.

My first step would be a crash course in what they do. I am a little behind on the technology they use so I will be trying to catch myself up a little bit.

Make sure you’re getting regular feedback about your performance from your host. If you’re not getting enough of it, or if you’re feeling unsure about how you’re doing, ask for it. You want to get the most out of the opportunity, and they want you to do well, so don’t be afraid of asking for it

have a lot of patience, and learn to persevere. be sure to stay on top of things, and try not to act like a fool. dont be afraid to ask questions. write things down if you need to. if you are given directions, repeat them so you can confirm that that is exactly what they want.

Though it depends on the culture of the company, while you’re getting ramped up during your first week or so, try to get to know your coworkers. Better to do it early on then when you have work to do.
