Does anyone have any advice for the Intel science competition? I understand it takes alot of work and dedication. What else should I be prepared for?

Thanks

Could you narrow your question and also clarify whether you are talking about Intel ISEF or Intel STS? What are you most curious about - the process, stats, finding mentors, categories, papers, essays, benefits, etc.? If you could ask one narrowly defined question - what would it be? I’ve been involved in many of these competitions (ISEF, STS, Siemens, ISWEEEP, and more) and they are all a little different.

ranch 42: my son does well at isweeep and isef but jr humnaities and science symposium just kicks his butt! any tips on what they are looking for?also do you have any tips for dupont essay…he gets to finalist at young naturalist but dupont is a shut out… thanks for any advice!

How do you do the research in the first place? I know almost 100% sure that in my area, there won’t be any willing mentor. Do you need cutting-edge equipments to do the research? Access to a lab?
I find it hard to believe that any professor would want to lend their time and lab to a high school student.
Thanks beforehand.

No, just one will suffice.

lol With no mentor, no access to a lab, no big money, even one is inaccessible.
If I could somehow be able to research, I would do one in biology or chemistry. Or biochemistry.
