Advice for Junior Year?

All the seniors + out there, how was your junior year? Do you have any advice? :)

It is the hardest year of your life. Brace yourself.

LOL idk not really but it becomes overwhelming, mostly because junior year was when I took on most of my ECs and the ACT and SAT and other things like that. Manage your time well but really take this time to start focusing on colleges and getting a head start on everything.
It’s a stressful year, but everything you accomplish will be totally worth it and it feels damn good after it’s over…
Have fun!

Oh! You did most of your ECs in junior year? That’s a relief, because I’m dangerously low on ECs… Thanks buddy :)

I did pretty much all of my ECs in junior year, but colleges like to see commitment and my ECs are going to be the worst part of my application.

I don’t think junior year is as bad as people say, but I only really took three AP classes (and four self-studies).

Suggestions:

 • Don’t procrastinate, unless you’re good at it.
 • You can fake your way through a lot of stuff if you know how to write well.
 • Don’t overestimate yourself. (People are always on here creating chances threads with their “projected” stats, and they’re never actually going to do most of that stuff.)
 • Participate in class and get to know teachers so they can write recommendations.
 • Work on your college essays throughout the year by writing down interesting phrases/sentences/topics when you think of them.
 • Do your least time-consuming homework first.
 • Do homework at lunch and during other classes.
 • The SAT isn’t as hard as people make it out to be, but the best way to prepare is by taking a lot of practice tests.
 • Take Subject Tests in the same subjects as your AP tests.

Prepare to cry. A lot. So many AP courses so little time to study. So many activities so little time. If you have free time you’re doing something wrong. I cried about 5 times driving to school, seriously though.

I suggest doing really well in the beginning of each semester meaning try to ace the first few tests in each course so you won’t be depressed about bringing your grade back up. Trust me went through this and it’s hard as hell but I pulled off an A, luckily. Ohh and don’t slack off! Otherwise you will be fine.

Im a rising Junior and I read this and I’m getting a bit scared here…

I would study all summer for the SAT and ACT and take it in October. That way if you did well then it’s over and you don’t have to take it in May near APs. I was done with the ACT in December and I was the only one and it felt great.
Keep up good grades and ECs but don’t forget to maintain a healthy mental state. I was depressed during many parts of my junior year.
Remember to have fun and don’t let your studies take over your life. Go hang out with friends and what not :)
