Advice for Math

Hi, I consistently score around 740-770 on Math due to careless errors (which in turn are caused primarily because I have to rush to finish in time), and I want to raise my score to a consistent 800.

How do I improve my pacing? Should I do a bunch of hard problems (the ones that take me an excessive amount of time)? Should I get a review book and keep drilling problems in spans of 30-60 seconds until I get faster?

Also, what is a good way to analyze practice tests after I have taken them?

John chungs sat math can prepare u for the hard questions. U just have to calm down and be more careful. And obviiusly the best way to review wrong answers is to re do them. Maybe flip some numbers and try ir again.

If you are doing careless mistakes, is it because you think the question is too easy? Do you waste too much time on one question and not able to finish another one? Is there a topic that requires you to take more time answering questions? You should ask yourself these questions and work from there.

Generally, I would work on practicing the hard questions as those can sometimes be unpredictable which wastes time to review the easier questions before that section is over.

A tip that I used to do was when I practiced, I made sure to time myself 2-3 minutes faster. So if a math section was officially supposed to be 20 minutes, I would time myself to finish in 17 or 18 minutes. This would help increase my speed and would allow time for unpredictable questions. Good Luck!

I too score consistently in the 700’s - not because of time, but careless mistakes. Dr Chung’s math book is GREAT. It gives you all the hard problems.
