Yea, this reminds me of when we went up for S’s graduation last summer. We had also decided to spend a night in Santa Barbara. We got D to come with us & spent our time (after a nice dinner) washing HER laundry (she was planning to store many suitcases of stinky, dirty clothes in the storage unit that she & S were sharing). We still tease her about our lovely time in Santa Barbara with the hotel that fortunately had a decent laundry room! I wonder if we’ll need to do a repeat this year when we visit D at the end of her semester this year. Maybe not, as she’ll just be moving from one apartment to another and likely not need to STORE anything. I guess we can just let her move her garments in whatever condition from place to place. ;)

Hi, thanks for all the great suggestions. It sounds like storage is the way to go for ease. Two suitcases should be enough for him to bring home what he wants for the summer (I hope). Not sure if I’ll go up or not --I think I’ll just keep playing this by ear.

If I lived nearby (within driving distance), I’d play things by ear & give the kiddo a chance to work things out with peers and have the kid make the suggestions instead of swooping down with your plan. A lot of times, our kids are quite resourceful and can surprise us happily by managing things themselves (good all the way around).
