So, a few people were wondering about this on another thread, and I just thought it would be nice to consolidate some advice here.
What have you heard most people who receive a "possible" do to improve their chances? If you don't mind sharing, what have you done/are going to do? Is there any supplemental information that really seems to make a difference?

I've read from a few sources (possibles that turned into admits) that it might help to send in a brief, non-whiny letter about why Wellesley is the best place for you.

I haven't done anything yet, myself. Does anyone know when final decisions are mailed out and/or posted online?

cool, thanks! i havent done anything yet either... my bad. do you think letter vs. e-mail makes a difference?

Not really. I guess letters seem more formal, but I don't know if that's good/bad.

I guess whatever we do, we should do it quickly. I looked through some older threads, and notifications were received as early as March 23. Yikes! That's just around the corner.

Speak to your counselor and see if s/he can pull some strings for you.

would it be helpful to send it some extra things, such as an art portfolio, writing samples, CD etc?

I'm just a parent, and my advice should be taken with a grain of salt, since I'm not that familiar with the inner works of the admission process. I think the best course of action at this point would be writing a letter to your regional admissions officer (by e-mail followed by a hard copy) and explain why Wellesley is your top choice and describe your new achievements, if any, since your application submission. Also, if your school GC can call them and make a sales pitch on your behalf, that would be good, too. Good luck to you, ladies.

applications have already been read

Results will be posted on the web on March 21 (for overseas students) and decisions will be mailed on that same day as well.

Wow, I'm sorry, I pretty much stopped worrying about admissions as soon as I sent in my applications, although I got my financial aid stuff in a timely manner, but still, I didn't worry about it. I actually didn't even know I would get most of my admissions decisions in two weeks, I thought they were all in April. But that's a little bit irrelevant.

The point is, what does the "possible" mean? I have gotten absolutely nothing about it, and a search on Google revealed nothing. I didn't apply Early Evaluation, if that affects anything.

"Possible" is one of the three outcomes of the EE. "Likely" means an "almost a shoo-in", "possible" equates to approximately 25% chance of being admitted, and "unlikely", well, is self-explanatory If you have not applied EE, your application will be read after EEs. That's what I was told. Good luck!
