Can anyone provide me with some advice on preparing for literature? I am thinking about taking it in June and my score right now is like 670~690.

Get the Princeton Review Literature book. I found it really helpful, and though I originally thought I would fail considering the fact that I barely knew any literary terms, as well as the fact that my sophomore SAT CR score was a 690 (granted, I was sick that day), I ended up with a 720. :)

Have you taken AP Lit? If not grab an AP Lit prep book, I found that helped me a lot. Also study literary terminology (alliteration, synonym, synecdoche, etc etc) - you can probably find a list online.

i didn’t do any studying for it but regretted not reviewing poetry. there were a couple of poems in there and questions about rhyme scheme (i took it june 09).

if you’re taking ap lit/language, that should really be enough to help you.

This is what I need to know too! My score on the practice tests is in the mid-600 range but I need to get it up to 700+ by the Jan. SAT date. I try different strategies (i.e. leaving fewer blank and guessing more, leaving more blank, stuff people have suggested on CC, etc.) but they don’t seem to be able to pull my score up to a 700! I have memorized all the terms in the Barron’s book, so it’s not like I haven’t studied. I guess I’m not a natural at it like so many students are nowadays…but how should I improve since I’m not?

I really hope we get some more answers on this! Good luck happysunnyshine.

Barrons/PR= I’ll think about getting those, thanks
