dude, that's not true...BCM doesn't discriminate b/w in-state/out-of-state...they don't care.

they lower the tuition for texas residents for a reason. its indirect discrimination to foment a bigger texas class. you misunderstood my statement. they accept equally, but they make it easier for texas to chose them.

They don't lower tuition...the state of texas subsidizes it b/c texas residents pay taxes to texas. They get the same amount of $ per student either way, it's just that for a resident, that state of texas foots most of the bill. My R/B class is 8-7, w/ 8 residents, 7 out of staters. This reflects the fact that rougly 50% of rice is from texas, not any discrimination on the part of BCM. It doesn't make any difference to them who they get their money from.

well, i wasnt saying that applied to rice/baylor. what i was trying to say that since it costs less for people from texas to go there. it encourages more texas people to consider going there. i know it doesnt make any difference, but people might consider another med school over it in their state because it offers lower tuition for residents.even though some people might apply, more texas residents apply.

But, that doesn't mean that it's harder to get in from out of state or easier from texas.

whoa..we're already talking about indepth med-school stuff??....interesting..

well, i just meant that it is easier for a person to come from texas becayse of cost

How is cost relevant?? Rice charges the same for out of state as in state. Only public universities charge more for out of state students.

because economy is pragmatic. if there is a good school in their state, why go more expensive?

Someone said they had stats on SAT 2's. Could you post them?

yea ill post them for you, which sat2 would you like?

Chem, US hist, Bio Please

Test Average Score Number of tests of admitted students
Bio. (M) 719 108
Bio. (E) 685 51
Chem 709 201
US Hist. 701 190

I took the Chem and bio(M) for my acceptance and I got a 790 in chem, a 780 in bio (m) and an 800 in spanish. good luck

Hey would you mind posting the lit sat II. Thanks.

Could you post the Spanish SAT II and the Math Level's one and two? Thanks!

good thinking! that's what i was about to ask!!

Test Average Score------ Number of tests of admitted students
Lit 690----- 130
spanish 681 ------11
Math IIc 729-----429
Math IC 673 ------238

Only 11 took Spanish? How important are SAT II's to Rice? Three out of four of mine are above the average by various amounts, but will that help that much?

Could you post World History too? Thanks man :D

well in my opinion, the sat2's are more important because they show your individual skill in a specific subject which might make your application better. my sat2's were excellend and i think thats why i got in because i was applying for the school of natural science. choose them wisely to make them fit the application to the specific college you are applying to. yea, not many people took the sat2 for spanish apparently i dont know why. well, it definitly helps to be above the average, keep in mind though, the average is not necessarily what they want, try to do higher if you can.
