Advice for SAT math??

Hey guys so math is the section I feel most comfortably with on the SAT. Basically I always miss those questions that don't appear in the review books (you know the ones that sort of resemble the questions you study for but are a little different). Recently I took a practice test and received a 740. So do you guys have any advice to boost my score the extra 60 points? Any advice at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

I got an 800 in math and the key to doing so is not missing a single question. As stupid as it sounds, that’s what you need to do. A 740 means you are only missing 2 or 3 out of the 54 questions on the math part of the test, so the key is to read every question carefully and make sure you are answering the right question. Other than that, if there is a question you feel you just have no clue how to do, make sure to fill those gaps in knowledge.

Agreed with pizzabagel: you need to do a lot of practice questions and be ruthless about learning from your mistakes. Keep a notebook of all the mistakes you make so you can review it.

Study your mistakes and see if you have weaknesses in any subject. Algebra? Geometry? A specific piece of geometry? If so, then get some resources like khan academy to teach yourself the fundamentals or find practice problems that let you specifically drill down on those weaknesses. Let me know if you need more help.
