Hi all,
So last year I tried to get in as a freshman. My class size was only about 70 students, and I did not quite meet my goal. I got offered CAP, which I wish I had taken.
At my high school I took college courses, and finished my academic core with a GPA of 3.27, and I have more than enough hours.
I know my GPA is meager compared to many other students, so here is where things get tricky.
A lot of my lower grades are from my freshman and sophomore years of high school. During my Junior year I improved significantly, and I even managed to make all As in my college classes my senior year despite losing my dad to cancer and being diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease. Is all of this worth mentioning in a transfer essay? (Which all transpired after I applied.)
I was incredibly involved in my high school. The UT admissions page says to include all information from the last 5 years of your life, so I would imagine high school information would be applicable. What I’m getting at is, if my original application was not good enough, will my new application be, even though not much as has changed? I also understand it is easier to get in as a transfer. If it helps, my intended major is history.
I have also considered possibly going down to their office of admission and asking for advice, since it’s only four miles away from me.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks everyone!
