I hope you’re going after 2nd semester classes begin which is on Jan. 9th. One thing we did was hop on various campus buses to get a feel for the campus. You can download a campus bus map and just hop on any A,D, or E bus. They run about every 10 minutes or so. It’s a good way to explore the whole campus.

Definitely spend a little bit of time downtown Bloomington–check out fourth street for international cuisine and of course walk down the main drag on Kirkwood. Downtown exploration worked well for lunch when I was visiting as a senior in high school, and now as a student I spend a decent amount of time in B-Town on weekends.

I suggest you also spend time at the Memorial Union and some of the athletic facilities. If you are into sports, the Varsity Club and Hall of Champions are quite impressive. The Memorial Union is historic and will give you an appreciation for IU’s rich tradition and school pride; each floor of the MU houses a variety of displays, rooms, offices, eateries, etc. Have a great visit, and post your impressions when you get back! One other thought…you should definitely check out the Kelley LLC while you are on campus, as it will be a housing option if you decide to attend IU. My son is living in the KLLC this year as a freshman and is having a great experience.
